UniFi LTE SMS

SMS from your smart home – directly through the SIM card in your UniFi LTE Backup Pro. Send messages, use incoming SMS in automations and monitor LTE signal values in Home Assistant.

Dein LTE-Backup kann auch SMSYour LTE backup can send SMS too

The integration connects Home Assistant directly to the LTE device over SSH and accesses its built-in modem. For example, you can send an SMS when your UPS switches to battery power. No additional SMS cloud service is needed; messages are sent through your SIM card and mobile carrier.

Tested: U-LTE-Pro-EU with Sierra Wireless WP7607 and firmware 7.0.110. Other devices with Sierra WP76xx/RC76xx modems have not been confirmed as tested. UniFi 5G Max and UniFi Mobile Router are not supported. The integration uses undocumented device interfaces; firmware updates may affect its operation.

InstallationInstallation

Empfang und Host-KeyReceiving messages and host keys

New SMS are polled every 60 seconds by default and deleted from the SIM after processing to keep its limited storage available. You can change the interval and deletion behavior in the options. Without deletion, the SIM may fill up and stop accepting new messages.

With firmware 7.0.110, the SSH host key may change after every reboot. The integration offers a Repairs action to persist it in the device's flash storage. Unexpected key changes require confirmation again by default. See the project documentation for repair details and the optional automatic acceptance setting.

Daten und NachrichtenData and messages

The integration runs inside your Home Assistant instance and communicates locally with the LTE device over SSH. Your mobile carrier processes phone numbers and message content for SMS delivery. Incoming messages are exposed in Home Assistant as events with sender, text and timestamp. Storage and forwarding also depend on your automations and Home Assistant configuration.
